Six weeks before spring break officially begins and "Help Wanted" signs are out at beach businesses and more are on the way.
One of the gulf coasts newest restaurants has only been open for two months and already they are looking to hire at least 100 people. "We are in the initial phases now of recruiting and hiring. Spring break is about six weeks away so right now we are taking applications and gearing up and expecting the busiest season yet," says manager Johnny Fisher.
Already along the beach front "Help Wanted" signs seem to be popping up everywhere. "We've had such good years in the past there isn't any reason to believe it's not going to continue and given that there has been a labor shortage in the last few years everybody is just trying to get an early start."
Hundreds of jobs are already available for job seekers and more are on the way. But it's not just about the numbers it's about the quality of the worker.
"A people person is what we're looking for." Lolly Holk is the human resources director for Meyer Realty. Her best advice for job seekers. "Come with a resume in hand. A resume tells so much about them that we don't see on any application."
For now the beaches maybe empty but the countdown to another season has already begun.
"Life is good down here on the beach and we're pretty excited," says Fisher, and the the time is right to find a job.
A summer job fair is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at The Hangout. The doors open at 10 o'clock.
