2011 Tony Award Nominations Announced
Earlier this morning, the nominees for the 2011 Tony Awards were announced by former Tony Award recipients Matthew Broderick and Anika Noni Rose. Leading the pack with 14 noms was ‘The Book of Mormon’, created by the folks who brought us South Park – Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They almost tied the 15 nods ‘The Producers’ earned in 2001 and ‘Billy Elliot’ back in 2009. Were your favorites nominated? Who got snubbed? Get more deets here! The ceremony will be held Sunday, June 12th at the Beacon Theatre in New York and broadcast live on CBS at 8:00 PM EST. While the buzz most certainly should surround all who received nods, instead, many are sounding off as to why some people got the snub. Daniel Radcliffe was overlooked in the musical, ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’. The Harry Potter star has received stellar reviews for his performance as J. Pierpont Finch. His co-star, John Laroquette, however, did receive a nomination. James Earl Jones, a two time Tony Award winner, surprisingly did not receive a nomination today for his role as Hoke in ‘Driving Miss Daisy’.
