CNBC anchor Erin Burnett is headed to CNN, according to the New York Times.
Burnett is "poised to sign a long-term contract" with the cable news network, according to the Times, which cited anonymous sources. It's not clear what time period Burnett will anchor.
Burnett has been at CNBC for five years, currently serving as co-anchor of morning show Squawk on the Street and anchor of afternoon's Street Signs.
She was said to have been a potential successor to Meredith Vieira, who is expected to depart NBC's Today later this year. But one source suggested that NBC higher-ups were not convinced she is a good fit for morning television.
The Times reported that Burnett had talks with ABC and CBS before deciding on CNN, which declined comment, as did CNBC.
