Washington County's unemployment rate rose to 12.3 percent in July compared to June's 12 percent, according to a Georgia Department of Labor news release.
That compares to Metro Macon's 10.3 percent in July and Georgia's overall unemployment rate of 9.3 percent.
Washington County is one of 101 counties with a 10 percent or greater unemployment rate. That means 63 percent of Georgian counties had an unemployment rate of 10 percent or higher last month.
