Corrales village leaders have recommended that horses not be included in the Fourth of July parade this year.
The leaders are not allowing horses to participate in the parade because of the recent equine herpes outbreak.
Last month, two horses in New Mexico died from the virus, but there are no longer any active cases here.
Corrales residents who are against the ban will try to make their case to keep the horses in the parade at Tuesday night's meeting.
