Egypt's military and Islamists: it takes two? - Voice of Russia

The Sinai incident seems to have been used as a pretext for a series of decisive moves made by the new Egyptian authorities against the older generation of the Egyptian military, former allies of the ousted President Hosni Mubarak. On Sunday Egypt's president dismissed several of military top commanders, including Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi and the Chief of Staff Sami Enan, and cancelled a constitutional declaration limiting President?s powers, and issued by SCAF less than a month ago.

Are the military likely to accept those moves and what could be the future of the relations between the Egyptian military and the Muslim Brotherhood?

These are the issues we?re discussing with our guest speakers Dr. Mark A. Heller a Principal Research Associate at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, Dr. Theodore Karasik, Director, Research and Consultancy at INEGMA, Institute for Near East and Gulf MilitaryAnalysis based in Dubai, UAE, and Vyatcheslav Matuzov, President of the Russian Society for the Promotion of Friendship and Business Ties with Arab Countries
