Members of the public can enjoy free swimming at the new Stoney Creek Recreation Centre from now until Thursday, Aug. 16.
An official opening celebration will take place later this fall with details to follow.
The new Stoney Creek Recreation Centre is at 45 King St. W. The facility will be closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Sunday, adult swim will be available between noon and 1 p.m. Public swim will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The new centre features a 25-metre, five-lane lap pool and a warm leisure pool with spray features.
It also has a hot tub/therapy pool, a multi-purpose room with a kitchen, a youth room, fitness room and community meeting space. The centre is wheelchair accessible.

The facility had been scheduled to be substantially completed by the end of May, but as the city?s manager of corporate buildings and technical services Rom D?Angelo told the News last month, a ?number of deficiencies? emerged in parts of the centre, particularly in the pool and slide structure. He said the pool and a pool slide had some structural problems and there were also glazing problems.
City officials had been meeting and reviewing the issues with the contractor, making sure any problems have been resolved. D?Angelo said no further taxpayer money has been used to fix the problems.
