Briscoe Still Weighing High School, College Decisions

GALLOWAY, N.J. ? It?s the end of July and Isaiah Briscoe is still weighing decisions about both high school and college.

As for colleges, the 6-foot-2 Briscoe said Arizona, Florida, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Seton Hall were recruiting him the hardest.

Pittsburgh?s Barry Rohrssen and Seton Hall?s Freddie Hill both sat courtside for the Playaz?s 60-40 rout of the South Jersey Select. UConn coach Kevin Ollie also watched the game.

?I?m going to compete wherever I go,? he said Thursday at ?Live in AC. ?I want the ball in my hands as a freshman and I just want the coach to trust me on the court and just believe that I can run a team.?

Briscoe has visited Arizona twice and Syracuse several times because his sister goes there.

?I think I?m going to visit Florida in August,? Briscoe said.

Asked when he might decide on a college, Briscoe said he wanted to decide soon, but added, ?I have to figure out what high school I?m going to first.?

The former St. Benedict?s Prep guard said he considered Henderson (NV) Findlay Prep but is now considering Brewster (N.H.) Academy, Sparta (N.J.) Pope John and Our Savior New American on Long Island.

?I kind of want to start my own path and do my own thing instead of just following a trend of doing what everybody else is doing,? he said.

?Any local school I would be starting my own path because all the ranked guys want to go to Huntington, Findlay and everywhere else so I think I can do something locally and maybe a win couple of championships in my state.?

Briscoe and St. Benedict?s came within a late Montverde (FL) Academy 3-pointer last year of winning the ESPN NHSI championship.

He says he will pick a high school after returning from a tournament in Las Vegas this weekend sponsored by Chris Paul.

?Probably when I come back from Vegas,? Briscoe said, ?I think three days from now I?ll know which school.?
