Last month, Sony revealed the Xperia Z Ultra?s specs, showing offering the rumored 6.4-inch full HD display and powerful hardware under the hood. We got a look at the handset in action in some promotional videos, including one that featured the Smart Bluetooth headset, and now word has surfaced that the smartphone will be available in the UK on September 13.
The information comes from the folks over at Phandroid, who say Expansys, a retailer, confirmed that the Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be available for buyers in the United Kingdom on September 13, leaving us with only a couple more months of waiting. The device will be available in white, black, and purple, per the details given back in June.
The Xperia Z Ultra is a massive device fully in the phablet range with its near-tablet sized display. That aside, the device also packs a fair bit of power, running a 2.2GHz MSM8974 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset under the hood alongside 2GB of RAM. Around back there?s an 8-megapixel camera that can record in HD, as well as a 2MP front camera.
Connectivity has all the trimmings you?d expect: Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, wifi, GPS, and DLNA streaming. The camera utilizes Exmor RS, and there?s X-Reality technology in there, too. As a Sony smartphone first, there?s also TRIMULINOS technology, which those with BRAVIA TVs will be familiar with.
The phone itself has svelte dimensions, coming in at 179 x 92 x 6.5 mm and weighing 212 grams. The Xperia Z Ultra also trumps the Xperia Z in terms of being waterproof and dustproof, with the upcoming offering being rated at IP58, while the Xperia Z model is rated at IP55/IP57. And, of course, joining the handset will be the mini Bluetooth headset, making it easier to deal with the Ultra?s large size.
